In order to improve the user experience of logging into Google Workspace for new and returning users we will be changing the default setting related to Google Login Challenges.
In order for 2-Step-Verification to work while signing in with SSO, post SSO login challenges must be enabled. However, this setting also causes Google to prompt for additional verification if a login appears suspicious, including new or returning users. This challenge prevents users from signing into Google despite successfully authenticating via SSO.
We will be changing the post SSO login challenge setting to be disabled for everyone by default. Users who opt-in to Google 2-step-verification will automatically moved to an Organizational Unit within our Google Workspace that enables Post SSO Login Challenges to enable 2-Step-verification to work.
The Google Workspace service will not be interrupted during this change.
