UAA-Managed Windows 11 Computers Update

Scheduled for Oct 16, 10:00 AKDT  -  Oct 30, 10:00 AKDT

Scheduled

What: UAA IT Services will update university-managed Windows 11 computers to the current version of Windows 11, beginning Friday, October 16, at 10 AM. The update must be installed by Friday, October 30, at 10 AM.

Why: Microsoft supports each version of Windows 11 for a limited time. This update keeps university computers receiving security and quality updates.

Result: The update downloads in the background. When it's ready, Windows will ask you to restart. Installing takes about 10 to 30 minutes and at least one restart, so save your work first. You can start the update and restart any time before October 30. After that, computers that haven't been updated will restart on their own, with advance warning. To avoid an automatic restart at a bad time, update and restart when you first see the notice.

Your files, applications, and settings stay the same. Computer labs and classrooms will be updated outside of class times. Personal computers and computers already on the current version are not affected.

Any Issues: If you have trouble installing the update, or an application stops working afterward, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Technical Support Center.
