Scheduled - IT Services will be performing maintenance and enhancements to the virtual server environment beginning on Friday, June 2 at 10:00 pm through Monday, June 5 at 5:00 am. The work being performed will improve the performance and reliability of our virtual environment and is necessary for our continued operations.

This planned maintenance will mean that many UAA data systems served out of the UAA virtual server environment will be intermittently unavailable during the scheduled time period. Many of our systems are configured with high availability in mind. Outages should be minimal or short in duration. The most significant outage will be to the UAA file server environment. Systems of importance like this will be prioritized to be migrated during overnight hours when usage is lowest.

Systems and services not hosted in UAA's server environment will continue to be fully available. This includes all network and internet services, OIT-hosted systems such as Banner or UAOnline, and cloud services such as Google Workspace, TeamDynamix, Microsoft 365, Salesforce CRM and Marketing Cloud, etc.

Scheduled - What: UAA IT Services will be updating our Windows Update service beginning Monday, March 20 at 10 AM through Friday, June 16 at 12 AM.

Why: To provide a more consistent update experience, similar to consumer Windows Update.

Result: The Windows Update notifications will look different from the past. Customers will see updates in Settings > Update & Security.

Any Issues: If you experience issues with Windows Update after the update and migration, don't hesitate to get in touch with the Technical Support Center.

Update - 911 services are currently 100% operational in Anchorage and Kodiak. 911 services are operational at all other community campus locations, but UAA ITS is currently confirming that address information is accurate at KPC in Soldotna and Homer, Mat-Su College, and at PWSC.

Homer and Kenai are able to dial 911 and 8911 successfully but the verification of addresses is still in process. Monitoring - As of 5pm, Friday April 14th, all 911 services are functioning in Anchorage, Mat-Su, Kodiak, and Kenai/Soldotna. 911 calls go through from Homer, but the location information passed to emergency services may be incorrect. 911 calls out of PWSC are still unsuccessful. We require Copper Valley Telecom to assist with fixing the issue, however their technicians are not available until Monday morning. We will re-engage with them then. Please continue to use a cell phone or other non-university phone line to call for emergency assistance from the PWSC campus.

Identified - Instructors using Zoom through their Blackboard or Canvas courses may experience an error using the Zoom tool link. This issue has been reported to the vendor and they are working to resolve. Students are currently unaffected by this outage.

As a workaround, instructors can access their meetings by signing into alaska.zoom.us.

Update - UAF Facilities Services will be conducting a planned maintenance power shutdown in the Butrovich Building to integrate a new Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) for the Butrovich Data Center (BDC). The UPS will ensure seamless and continuous power supply to the BDC in the event of a utility outage. The BDC electrical system must be temporarily powered down to ensure safety for the technicians doing the work.

This planned maintenance shutdown will mean that many UA data systems served out of the BDC will be unavailable during the following timeframes:
