An Alaska Communications (ACS) third party provider will be performing emergency maintenance on WAN circuits affecting UAA and UAF on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM AKDT (repairing damaged fiber near Sublimity, OR).
No service interruption is expected. The circuits are protected, and users may at most experience a brief (50ms) protection switch during the window. This maintenance is considered precautionary and could not be rescheduled due to its emergency nature.
If unanticipated disruptions do occur, affected users may experience a temporary loss of connectivity to Internet2 and AWS resources during the maintenance window.
OIT Telecommunications Services personnel will ensure that indicated WAN circuits are functioning after completion of the scheduled carrier maintenance and follow up with the service provider if needed.
