Sitka Network Hardware Upgrade and Starlink Integration Mar 11, 2025 12:00 - Mar 12, 2025 00:00 AKDT

Engineers will be onsite on Thursday March 13th to install new networking hardware at the Sitka Campus. The starlink connection will be integrated into a new routing platform that will be installed. Internet access at the campus will be unavailable at while the network undergoes transition to the new hardware. When on-site engineers will coordinate with local staff to ensure that any critical traffic is not disrupted.

While the outage window is scheduled for 12 hours we expect the actual downtime to be significantly shorter. This outage window is selected to work around any critical events that might be occurring during the day.

Alertus Server Upgrade/Reconfiguration Mar 31, 2025 06:45-08:00 AKDT

The Alertus server will be reconfigured to better handle the current processing load. During the activity the Alertus wall beacons, desktop clients, and panic buttons will appear offline a few times.

UAF Phone Queue Outage

Resolved - The OIT Telecommunications team has resolved the issue with the Cisco Agent service. After the certificate renewal this weekend, a logout was needed for all Agent users. Thank you again for your patience during the resolution of this issue!

There will be a network outage in Kotzebue while the device reboots, and we expect services to be restored within 15-20 minutes of upgrade initiation.

Southeast Internet Outage & ELMO Slowness

Resolved - ACS Reported last night that Southeast Alaska systems are back up and accessible.

Update - Internet in Southeast Alaska remains nonfunctional, however ELMO has been rerouted and should now be loading at a regular rate.
ACS has published the following update:

"Technical team has confirmed damage to the ACS subsea cable system connecting Juneau.

We are dispatching a repair ship. We do not yet have an estimated time for restoral.

We are also working to find alternate ways to restore connectivity in Juneau."
