Scheduled - One service interruption of approximately 30-45 minutes is anticipated during the maintenance window for anyone attempting to connect to/from PNWGP/Internet2 or Amazon.

Beginning 5/21/2025 at 11:30 PM AKDT and concluding at 2:00 AM AKDT on 5/22/2025, Alaska Communications will be performing network maintenance to upgrade Homer, Southeast Alaska, and Seattle, WA SOAS from 10.8 to 10.10.

An alternate window beginning 5/22/2025 at 11:30 PM AM AKDT and concluding at 2:00 AM AKDT on 5/23/2025 has also been established. In the event that the network maintenance is unable to be completed on the primary maintenance date, the alternate maintenance date will be used to complete the designated work.

This work has been deemed essential and must be completed as scheduled.

Resolved - The UAS IS team has resolved the issue with the ELMO-to-Duo integration that resulted in disabled Duo accounts, and has confirmed that the fix in-place is stable. Affected users have been retroactively re-enabled. Thank you again for your patience during the resolution of this issue!

Update - We have received reports that Duo MFA is currently experiencing issues, specifically giving 'Account Disabled' errors to newly-registered students. The UAS Information Systems team is currently investigating, and we will be making updates at open and close daily, and as new information becomes available. Please see below for our workaround of this issue, and thank you for your patience during its resolution!

To Enroll in Duo with a 'Disabled' Account:
1. Navigate to https://elmo.alaska.edu/

Scheduled - Kaltura Vn.7 Player embeds used in our LMSs (Blackboard and Canvas) have extra space at the bottom of the embed area, under the player. The size of that blank, extra space varies between each LMS integration, ranging between 30 pixels and 120 pixels, with 60 extra pixels being the norm. The original need for this (30 pixel) space, was to accommodate for the tool bars under the older Vn.2 players; this space is not needed for the Vn.7 player embeds.

This change will reset the size of the embed height, to match the size of the player.
New default player sizing will be reverted to Kaltura recommended sizes:
Large 608x342
Medium 400x225
Small 304x171

Scheduled - The Zoom Scheduler feature set will be enabled for UA Zoom users.

Zoom Scheduler works the same as Calendly, and other appointment booking services. This feature is already included in our contract, and so will not incur any additional cost, and could save departments money, who are currently paying for a 3rd-party solution.

Zoom Scheduler is straight-forward to setup and use, and allows for multiple appointment types, and for team scheduling.

We will be working on a notification going out to all newsletters that includes a link to Zoom's Getting Started with Scheduler info page.

Feature set would be enabled on the Sunday, following Spring Semester grade close: May 11th
